Course Objective
To outreach high-school students and present the mechanical engineering through contemporary research problems and selected projects. Students will learn topics important for mechanical engineering and learn fundamental approach.

Prof. Mechanical Engineering
At Koc University, Prof. Dr. Kerem Pekkan is teaching Introduction to mechanical engineering, finite-element modeling and biomechanical engineering courses. After completing his PhD at METU, he worked as a faculty member at Purdue, Georgia Institute of Technology and Carnegie Mellon Universities. He received the NSF-CAREER award, one of the most prestigious faculty awards in US. He published over 120 peer-reviewed manuscripts including 5 international patents on novel cardiovascular devices. Prof. Dr. Kerem Pekkan developed computational tools that allow modeling the growth mechanics of blood vessels and used them to improve the surgical operations of pediatric heart diseases. His studies are supported by the European Molecular Biology Organization and European Research Concuil (ERC) and TUBITAK 2247A National Lead Researcher program.
