Course Description

The purpose of this course is to provide students with a perspective on how psychology studies issues related to human behavior, cognition, and emotions. Throughout the course, different subfields of psychology will be introduced, including developmental, social, cognitive and clinical psychology.

By the end of this course, students will gain insight into topics such as how psychology deals with different types of questions, how some basic psychological processes occur and how they affect human behavior. Learning, memory, emotions and perception, social relationships and psychological disorders are some of these.

Hande Özlem Atar Research Assistant
Hande Özlem Atar is a PhD student in Cognitive Psychology at Koç University Social Sciences Institute. She graduated from MEF University in 2020 as a high honor student in Psychology. She graduated from Koç University in 2022 with a degree in Cognitive Psychology and started her doctoral studies there. In her master’s thesis, she studied people’s moral judgments and emotional reactions (e.g. anger and disgust) to rule violations during the Covid-19 pandemic. His research areas include moral decision-making and judgments, moral emotions, social cognition, adaptive behavior and identity.
